Glass Sculptures

For many years I’ve had the desire to make some larger scale work. Every time I lecture and see my images projected six feet long on a wall I think they would hold up well as sculpture. Thanks to a 2014 residency at the Uroboros Glass factory in Portland, Oregon, I was able to accomplish this goal. These works are about two feet across and about 44 pounds of glass. They were in the annealing kiln for about 13 days.

Like much of my recent jewelry, they are inspired by the rippling wave patterns in water and the patterns of raked sand in the Zen gardens of Japan.
