This portfolio is of some of my favorite early jewelry. It is set up in roughly chronological order beginning with my last work as a student at Rhode Island School of Design in 1982 and moves forward to 1997. One of my primary materials for this work was black slate. I also worked in glass, semi-precious stones such as black onyx, jasper, Brazilian agate, and sodalite, as well as ceramic tile. My inspirations included the landscape of the American southwest, the art and architecture of Japan, the sculpture of Isamu Noguchi, and paintings of Richard Diebenkorn.
